ASL Storytelling Live!

Available to all deaf education classrooms in Texas! We offer free interactive ASL Storytelling Classes through a video connection. Our storytellers meet with classes every week to share a story that matches your student’s reading level or your instructional goals. We make it as easy as possible to join us by providing a free webcam to set up in your classroom.  Teachers can also select the best day and times for the weekly ASL Storytelling session.

Reading to young children is the key to improving vocabulary and literacy skills. This program is designed primarily for elementary students but can be adapted for older students.  Our storytellers have extensive backgrounds in storytelling and match your student’s language needs. This program is designed for students from a variety of different communication backgrounds, ranging from a background in no signing to students who are fluent in ASL.

Other ASL Storytelling Opportunities For Your Class

This program pilot provides weekly read-aloud sessions led by ASL Storytellers to support the development of social and literacy skills. The book club will be

  • An Encouragement of reading: E-resources available in ASL, voiceover, and subtitled English to support continuous literacy skill development beyond the classroom.
  • A Collaborative Reading Experience: Connect with deaf/HOH peers from other schools monthly.

This program is currently in its pilot phase, serving as a trial to gather feedback and refine the program.  We welcome your participation and input to help shape the future of this initiative.
