Bring an ethical dilemma you have experienced in the K12 setting.
The morning session of this six-hour workshop will explore the booklet, Educational Interpreting for Deaf Students. It paints a realistic picture of what K-12 interpreters should have regarding skills, knowledge and attitude before accepting a job in an educational setting. The afternoon session will highlight specific ethical dilemmas K-12 interpreters have experienced up until now. Using case conferencing techniques, participants will decide which ethical dilemmas will be discussed. They will decide if they had read this booklet during the course of their interpreting career how it might have affected their decision differently in that specific ethical dilemma.
This workshop has been submitted for BEI CEUs.
This workshop is open to any sign interpreter working in a K-12 setting.
