The Health and Human Services Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) has partnered with various entities to offer several 'Summer Institute' trainings for pre-certified interpreters. Each training in the Summer Institute Series consists of intensive, week-long skill building workshops, with a specific target audience.
Houston Summer Institute
Area of focus: Interpreting Skill Development
Participant criteria: pre-certified interpreters who have either (1) graduated from an ITP, or (2) taken, but not yet passed, the BEI Basic (score between 44 and 70)
Participants are responsible for own arrangements and expenses related to transportation, lodging, meals, incidentals, etc. *Dates are subject to change.
Once registration of interest is completed, a DHHS staff member will evaluate your eligibility and will contact you with more information.
