Here, we read about Ben being outside in the heat and looking for a cool place to go in and sit down. He goes into Kincaid’s bookstore and sees an old man and woman have a conversation in sign language. They then begin to speak to him. We learn in this section, that the old woman’s name is Rose. In the picture portion, we see a locket with a picture of a man in it. Then, we see an older woman touching the face of a young boy and then we see the book titled, “Wonderstruck.” At this point of the book, several pieces come together as the stories merge.
