The Texas Education Service Center Region 3 provides leadership, resources, and information to parents and educators serving children who have severe cognitive disabilities, are medically fragile, or deafblind. These special needs are referred to as low incidence disabilities.
Assessment and IEP decisions determine where along the continuum of placement options students who are deaf or hard of hearing and have additional special needs will be served. The Texas School for the Deaf Special Needs Department has a portion of students who have additional special needs and staff with special training and skills work to individualize and maximize each of these student's abilities.
